Musharraf Ali Farooqi
Musharraf Ali Farooqi is a novelist, scholar, and translator, with an interest in folklore and classical texts. Farooqi is the author of English translation of classical Urdu texts, Dastan-e Amir Hamza (The Adventures of Amir Hamza), and Tilism-e Hoshruba (Hoshruba: The Land and the Tilism, Vol 1). He has also translated the poetic works of contemporary Urdu poet Afzal Ahmed Syed (Rococo and Other Worlds). More information about his works could be found at his website: www.mafarooqi.com

Tehsin Firaqi (PhD Urdu)
Dr Firaqi currently heads the Majlis-e Taraqqi-e Adab (Board for the Advancement of Literature). He retired as the head of the Urdu Department of Oriental College, Punjab University. A highly esteemed author, critic poet, translator, and expert on Iqbal and Amir Minai, he is the author of numerous scholarly works, chief among them Abdul Majid Daryabadi; Hayat o Khidmat, Iqbal; Chand Naye Mabahis, Ghalib; Fikr o Farhang, and the translated collection of essays, Fikriyaat. He is the editor of the literary journals Mabahis and Makhzan, and chief editor of the quarterly, Saheefa, published by Majlis-e Taraqqi-e Adab, Lahore.

Moeen Nizami (PhD Persian)
Dr Nizami has taught Persian at the University of the Punjab and other institutions. His research interests include Classical and modern Persian Literature, Islamic Arts, Sufism, Sufi Orders in South Asia, Common Cultural heritage of Iran, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Turkey and the Sub-continent, Literary translations, Rumi Studies and Iqbal Studies. He is currently adjunct faculty at the Mushataq Ahmad Gurmani Center for Languages and Literature at the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities at LUMS. He is the editor of Muhammad Husain Azad's Persian-Urdu dictionary Lughat-e Azad (Lahore: Punjab University, Department of Urdu, 2010). An accomplished poet, he is the author of four collections of Urdu poetry.

Muhammad Salim-ur-Rahman
Muhammad Salim-ur-Rahman is an editor, critic, linguist, and translator. He has edited and annotated the classical Urdu texts Tilism-e Gauhar Bar and Riyaz e Dilruba, and twentieth century texts Kana Bati of Mir Baqir Ali Dehlvi, and Mazamin e Firaq of Firaq Dehlavi. He is the co-editor of the literary magazine, Savera.

Mazhar Mahmood Shairani (PhD Urdu)
Dr Shairani is a scholar of Urdu and Persian languages. His scholarly publications include Hafiz Mahmood Shairani ki Ilmi aur dabi khidmat (2 vols.), He has edited the Maqalat-e Hafiz Mahmood Shairani (10 volumes), Makateeb-e Hafiz Mahmood Shairani, Hafiz Mahmood Shairani (Kitabiyat), and edited and translated Mu'arribat-e Rashidi. He is currently involved in a team effort at the Persian Department, Government College University, Lahore, to compile a five volume Persian-Urdu lexicon based on the comprehensive Persian dictionary, Lughat Nama-e Dehkhoda.

Awais Athar (PhD)
Dr. Athar did his doctorate in Computer Science and MPhil in Computer Speech, Text, and Internet Technology from the University of Cambridge. His research works revolves around Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval. He is working on large biological databases at the European Bioinformatics Institute as a Software Development Project Lead. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Professor at FAST National University, Lahore. He has more than twelve years of experience in the software industry working in a diverse set of domains including e-Commerce, CRM, ERP, industrial automation, 3D graphics, data storage, social networks, and mobile apps.

Nadeem ul Haque
Nadeem Ul Haque is a Pakistani economist with extensive experience in policymaking during his long career at the International Monetary Fund. He has also been Vice Chancellor of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics. He has also served as Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of Pakistan, leading the country’s development effort. He developed the Framework for Economic Growth, which is widely regarded as an important blueprint for growth and development policy in the country.

Humaira Ashraf
Humaira Ashraf is a lexicographer and translator. She has an MA in Urdu literature from Punjab University, and an MA in Education from the University of Education, Lahore. She was an associate linguist for Centre for Research, Urdu Localization Project (CRULP) at FAST NU, where she worked on NOKIA Urdu software project to generate IPA pronunciation of Urdu common and proper nouns and close class words, and the Electronic Government Directorate's (EGD) online Urdu Dictionary. She was an editor at Oxford University Press Pakistan dictionaries department where she developed, compiled, and edited monolingual and bilingual dictionaries with a focus on pronunciation of Urdu entries in IPA and transliteration systems.


Rafaqat Ali Shahid (PhD Urdu)
Dr Shahid is a teacher, author and scholar with a strong focus on research, having numerous publications on Urdu classic prose, poetry, criticism research and the history of literature to his credit. Since September 2014 Dr Shahid has worked as a full-time Research Scholar at the Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature at LUMS, where his responsibilities include editing classical texts. He has edited and published GCLL’s first publication, Tazkiratunnisa-i Nadiri, an anthology of women poets of Urdu and Persian. He has an in depth knowledge of the Urdu classical texts, and of the nineteenth century Urdu periodicals which was the subject of his PhD thesis.
